Swing dancing is always fun, but live music brings it to a whole new level! We're excited to present a social dance with live music from the Milk Crate Bandits, featuring Jen Hodge and Brad Shigeta, along with Jack Ray and Chris O'Dear, bringing the sounds of 1920s New Orleans to Kamloops! It's music to make you dance, smile, and party! Join us at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre, 1250 Rogers Way in the Ida Room.
The Milk Crate Bandits are launching their second EP, "The View From Out Here," and we're one of the stops on their West Coast Tour!
We start out each social dance with a 1-hour beginner Lindy Hop lesson. No previous dance experience or partner required. After the lesson we have an open dance floor!
A social dance is a place to have fun, make new friends and create & share special connections with each partner. On the social dance floor, we are safe and free to truly express ourselves. We want an atmosphere that encourages everyone’s personality to shine, free of any judgement or criticism. We believe that there is no right way to dance, only a way to dance.
Music lovers, who may not be keen to dance (although there will be a beginner lesson to kick off the night), are invited to attend the concert with tickets being sold in advance or at the door.
Attire: There is no “wrong” way to dress at a dance—but this is a great opportunity to break out your fancy clothes! We ask that you bring clean comfortable shoes; heels might not be that comfortable as Lindy Hop can be very energetic.
We do not tolerate or allow alcohol. Free food & water is provided. We recommend bringing a water bottle to help reduce waste!
We love beginners!
Advance tickets: $20
Tickets at the door: $25
Advance tickets can be purchased at any social dance or from select members. Contact us to reserve yours! We accept cash, Visa, and Mastercard at the door.
This event is hosted by Lindy in the Loops.
