For brand new beginners! No partner or experience is required!
This is a fun and inclusive place to learn swing social dancing. We believe that anyone can learn, even if you feel like you have two left feet.
Please note there is a new location for this class, the Kamloops Sports Council on McArthur Island. For images showing the location of the Sports Council, please see below.
This 9-week lesson series covers key fundamentals and basics of the Lindy Hop, a type of vernacular jazz/swing dance from the 1920-30s swing era. After taking this series, you will know how to swing social dance, be more confident on the dance floor, be able to keep rhythm with the music, and be able to have incredibly fun dances
What to expect:
You will learn about partner connection as well as fun and essential patterns and moves.
We teach at an easy-to-follow pace and we will work to adapt to each individual’s learning style.
We rotate partners as we teach to help build community and give everyone experience dancing with a variety of dancers.
We believe that anyone can learn this dance; it is a lot of fun and the skills you’ll learn will show on the dance floor and it will help you learn other dance styles as well.
What to bring:
Come in comfortable clothes.
Bring a clean pair of indoor shoes (or dance in your socks if you prefer)
Bring a water bottle!
Try out the first lesson for $10 and see if you’d like to sign up for the whole series at the end of the first lesson. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson, so after the first lesson there is no drop-in available.
Members: $60 | Students $75 | Non-members: $90
